New Testament

II Corinthians Chapter 1

Paul, and Timothy, to Corinth; grace, peace, brothers!
God soothes in hardships, so we may comfort others;
We've been much afflicted in Asia, near death's door...
But that's made us trust in God, not ourselves, e'en more!
Pray for us, so you too may give thanks when we're blessed,
For by grace we've lived before you in righteousness.
I thought to visit, but though I did not, don't say
Our words to you are ambiguous: yea and nay;
God's promises are yea and Amen in Jesus,
And God's established, anointed, Spirit-sealed us.
I've spared you not coming; we don't want to "rule" you
But share in your joy, for it's by faith you stand true.
