New Testament

Mark Chapter 4

In parables Christ taught; a sower was His theme:
Roadside seed was bird-eaten; crop by stones scorched lean;
Seed by thorns was choked; the rest good fruit delivered.
Alone with His men, Christ explained: "The seed's God's Word,
Birds satan, stones trials, thorns the cares of this world.
Only from a good-soil heart will good fruit unfurl."
"There's nothing hid which won't be revealed", He declared,
"And the more you receive the Word the more'll be shared.
The Kingdom's like a crop's unseen growth to harvest,
Or a tree, from a small mustard seed, where birds nest."
Come evening, they sailed. Christ slept as a big storm clawed...
His men woke Him...He calmed the waves! They were o'erawed!
