Genesis, 50 chapters, tells the beginning
Of creation, when Adam and Eve, tempted, sin,
Of Cain's murder of Abel, the flood, Noah's ark,
Of Abram, Isaac, Jacob, giv'n God's blessing-mark;
Of Babel's language mixup, Lot's wife, salt-fated,
Of Sodom and Gomorrah, through sin cremated;
Of Abram's test to slay Isaac, promised offspring,
A ram provided in exchange, Christ foretelling;
Of Isaac's bride Rebekah; Esau, from whom runs
Blessing-thief Jacob (Israel) whose jealous sons
Nigh kill dreamer brother Joseph who saves his peers
From famine to Egypt, slaves there 400 years.
