Old Testament

Exodus

Exodus, forty chapters, journey discloses
Of the Israelites from Egypt, led by Moses.
I-AM-called, burning bush, he, with brother Aaron,
Plead obstinate Pharaoh: let God's people leave town!
Ten plagues! Last: firstborn die, save Israelites for whom
Door-smeared lamb's blood stops death angel's passover doom.
Pharaoh pursues, but God parts the Red Sea in two -
Israelites cross, and God drowns Pharaoh's chasing crew.
In wilderness, God's pillar of cloud by day leads,
Fiery pillar by night; manna, rock-water feeds.
Mount Sinai: God gives Moses 10 commandments, plans
For tabernacle building, and worship commands.
