New Testament

Romans Chapter 7

By the law, a man's wife can have no other ties,
But would commit adultery except he dies.
By Christ, to your former partner, the law, you're dead;
Marry Him, and bear good fruit (sin no more!) instead.
Is the law therefore a bad thing? No, God forbid!
If the law had not appeared sin would have been hid.
I died when the law appeared; was the law then bad?
God forbid! It was sin, shown up, that nailed this lad.
To God's law my mind says yes, my flesh no; likewise
Sin in me does things which inwardly I despise.
My mind is serving God's law, my flesh that of sin.
Who will deliver? Thank God Jesus Christ within!
