Five thousand believed the words of Peter and John,
But the authorities jailed them overnight. On
The morrow, questioned, they boldly exalted Christ,
And said no other name under heaven gives life!
Their captors marvelled: "How can unlearned men speak so?"
Due to the healing miracle, they let them go.
Back with their own, pray'r authority was taken -
"Grant us signs, Lord!" they all cried. The place was shaken!
All that believed were of one heart, and none had needs
For those with property sold, and shared the proceeds.
Joses, surnamed Barnabas, a Cyprus Levite,
Sold land, for example, and brought the cash on site.
