New Testament

Acts Chapter 27

We sailed for Rome with Julius, centurion,
More prisoners and Aristarchus; reached Sidon -
Where Julius kindly let Paul some old friends greet,
Passed Cyprus, stopped at Myra, changed ship, thence to Crete.
We stayed long there - winter, a bad time to sail, came.
'Gainst Paul's warning, for a better port left again -
A fierce storm fanned fear, cargo was ditched! Paul declared:
"An angel told me last night our lives will be spared!"
We neared land by night after two weeks adrift, beat.
Paul stopped the boarding of a lifeboat - bade all eat.
Next day we ran aground; by Julius' command
To save Paul, prisoners were not killed. All reached land.
