New Testament

Acts Chapter 22

"Men, brethren, fathers, hear my defence: I'm a Jew,
Born Tarsus, taught re the law, zealous, e'en as you,
Persecuting Christians, till going to Damascus,
Blinded by a bright light, I heard a voice - Jesus!
Ananias, Damascus, restored my sight, then
Said I would be the Just One's witness to all men.
I was baptized, and in Jerusalem vision
Sent far to the Gentiles - a divine commission!"
"Away with him!" cried the crowd! "Wait - I'm a Roman!"
Paul said, about to be whipped! The centurion
Nearby, aghast, told his captain this, who, in haste
Loosed Paul's bonds, and called the Jews' council re his case.
