Caesar taxed all - to pay each to their hometown sent,
So Joseph from Galilee to Bethlehem went,
Where Mary manger-birthed Christ - no room at the inn -
Shepherds came, angel-tipped with heaven's choir backing.

To Jerusalem's Temple - devout Simeon
Saw Him, forewarned by the Holy Ghost that his life
Would not be ended before he'd seen the Lord's Christ!
"Lord, now let thy servant depart in peace!" he cried.
