On mountain sat, Jesus preached: "The humble are blessed,
They who mourn, the meek, those who long for righteousness,
The merciful, the pure, peacemakers, and those who
Are reviled for right - for e'en the prophets were too.
Ye are the earth's salt, the world's light - shine before men!
I've come to fulfill the law - eternal's its ken.
Don't be like the Pharisees - you must be better!
You must live by the law's spirit, not its letter.
Avoid anger, don't lust; don't make oaths, but truth speak,
Don't fight back: if one strikes you, turn the other cheek.
Love your enemies, not just friends the way sinners do,
Be perfect like your Father, who blesses the two."
