From Abraham unto King David, Jesse's son,
From him to the captivity of Babylon,
From there to Christ, is 14 generations each,
And so the child who was born called Jesus we reach.
His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, when,
Before sex, she was with child; he therefore thought then
To put her away; but an angel in a dream
Told him to marry Mary, and this was his theme:
"The child conceived in Mary the Holy Ghost gave,
Name Him JESUS - from their sins His people He'll save!"
This fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy re Jesus:
"A virgin'll bear, named 'Immanuel' - 'God with us'!".
