New Testament

Mark Chapter 1

As written by the prophets, a messenger came,
Preparing the Lord's way, John the Baptist by name,
Clothed with camel's hair, eating locusts and honey
He baptized in the wilderness; of Christ said he:
"His shoes I'm not worthy to loose - He's mightier,
For He's the Holy Ghost, not water, baptizer."
Baptized, the Spirit on Christ dove-like alighted,
And from heav'n the Father approval recited!
To the wilderness Christ went, tempted forty days,
Called Simon, Andrew, James and John from fishing ways,
Cast out an evil spirit, creating a stir,
Healed Simon's wife's ill mother, and cured a leper.
