Old Testament

Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy, thirty-four chapters, relays
Three farewell speeches of Moses, in his last days.
Israel's about to enter the promised land;
He speaks as only a Father to children can.
"Hear, Israel!" he cries, "the Lord your God is one,"
And he heralds Christ as "a like Prophet to come."
There are things he repeatedly reminds all of:
"Don't forget God, His past mighty works, nor His love!"
He warns the people how God'll punish if they stray -
That His blessings will turn to curses on that day.
He e'en tells them God's shown him they'll one day backslide,
Captivity and restoration prophesied.
