The Israelites of old, baptized by cloud and sea,
Ate the same manna, drank from the same Rock - Christ - free,
But God killed many - tempting Him, they followed lust,
Idols, sex, murmuring - a strict warning for us!
Heed lest you fall, but no temptation will take shape
Where God won't also provide a way of escape.
Flee idolatry; communion wine and bread
Eaten, makes us one; don't feast with devils instead!
Eat (without questions) meat sold or served at tables,
For the earth is the Lord's; all is his - no idol's!
But, if offered an idol's sacrificial meat,
And told so, for the sake of him who spoke, don't eat.
