At the Temple on the Feast of Tabernacles,
Christ taught, and the Jews marvelled at His "unlearnt" words.
He said "My doctrine is God's, not mine, His glory
I seek, not mine own - why do you go to kill me?
You circumcise on the Sabbath, yet you're annoyed
Because on the Sabbath I healing employed!"
Some then sought to grab Him, but His hour was not come,
Others said: "will 'Messiah' do more than He's done?"
The Pharisees and chief priests sent men Him to take,
But they returned saying : "Ne'er man spoke like this 'fake'!"
Said Nicodemus : "we must give Him fair hearing",
But heard "From Galilee no prophet's appearing!"
