Enters by some back route; sheep know me, no other.
The thief comes but to kill; I the Good Shepherd be
That the sheep have life, and that more abundantly!
I lay down my life for them - one fold, one shepherd..."
"He's mad! Has a devil" argued many that heard!
"Say," some said, "if you're the Christ! Stop beating about!"
"I did!" Jesus said, "since you're not my sheep, you doubt!
My works witness; but my sheep hear my voice alone -
I give them life; I and my Father are one!"
For this talk they nigh stoned Him! His escape achieved,
He went where John first baptized, where many believed.
