A believer, born of God, loves Him, His children,
And keeps His commandments, which are not a burden.
Such a one overcomes the world, victory shod,
By faith believing Jesus is the Son of God.
To this, above: Father, Son, Holy Ghost witness,
And on earth: water, blood, and the Spirit attest.
We bear inner witness too, God the more so backs,
And he who thinks God lies eternal life lacks.
I write true; ask, receive, in His will God's not deaf,
Pray too for the brother who's not sinned unto death.
One who's born of God sins not, but is safe in Christ,
The true God (avoid idols) and eternal life.
