Footnote
The influence of the apostle Peter on the early church exceeded that of any of the original 12 disciples. His first letter is a general letter of encouragement addressed to believers in Christ living in various Roman provinces in Asia Minor (modern day Turkey) who were suffering persecution for their faith.
