New Testament

Mark Chapter 11

On colt ne'er ridden, Christ to Jerusalem led
"Hosanna!" chanting men, their clothes with branches spread.
He left for Bethany the night, then the next day
Cursed a fruitless fig tree, and in a Temple fray
O'erturned traders' tables, proclaiming, much displeased,
"You've turned a house of pray'r into a den of thieves!"
The cursed fig tree withered - shown it, Christ urged His men
"Have faith in God! Pray, don't doubt! Mountains will move then,
And forgive men their sins, else God will leave yours intact!"
The chief priests and scribes quipped: "By whose leave do you act?"
"First say - was John's baptism of God?" Christ charged. Scared,
They replied "We can't tell!" Christ a standoff declared!
