Let us fear lest we fall short of God's promised rest -
Before, God's Word, when preached, did not profit the faithless.
We'll enter this rest if we believe - this, God's sworn,
E'en as His seventh day rest, from finished works born.
Had Joshua giv'n God's people rest, God would not
Through David have spoken of a rest still to be got.
There remains therefore a rest for God's people who
Labor to cease from their own works, as God did too.
Shun unbelief, for God's word has pow'r, razor sharp,
Dividing soul and spirit, exposing each heart.
Our High Priest, sinless, felt all temptations we face,
So come in time of need bold to the throne of grace.
