Jesus dammed the Pharisees and their works for show:
"They love the chief seats and being hailed : 'Rabbi!' Know
You're to have no 'Rabbis' or 'masters', only Christ,
And the greatest among you is to serve, not cause strife.
But Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, woe to you!
You're not going to heav'n, and you stop men going there too!
You're blind guides, graves painted white - righteous outwardly,
Inside full of dead men's bones of iniquity!
You absolve yourselves from the blood of the prophets,
But you'll kill the ones I send to you, hypocrites!
O Jerusalem, how often I would have slot
You 'neath my wing, as a hen chicks, but ye would not!"
