Old Testament

Haggai

Haggai, two chapters, addresses Zerubbabel,
Judah's gov'nor, and Joshua, high priest, as well.
In the days when the exiled Jews were back in place,
Dwelling in their homeland while the Temple lay waste.
"You dwell in your nice houses", he says, bringing guilt,
"And sow much, reap little, for My house is not built!"
Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the Jews heeded,
Haggai then gave encouraging words as needed:
"I'm with you!" says God. "I'll fill this house with glory
When the Desire of All Nations comes!" quoth he.
When the Temple's foundation was finally laid,
"From this day I'll bless you!" was the message relayed.
