The second letter of the apostle Peter was written to encourage believers and combat the rise of certain false teachers in the church. From 2 Peter 2 we learn that these false ones had a licentious lifestyle, and from 2 Peter 3 we learn that they were denying the second coming of the Lord; these issues are addressed.
